# YouTube

**Connect:** sign in with the Google account that owns the channel. Every channel it manages
can be connected.

**Posting:** uploaded as private `leadMinutes` early (30 by default), with a publish time;
YouTube makes it public at `scheduledAt`. A vertical video under three minutes becomes a Short.

## After it is up

Change its details (`edit_published_post`), set a thumbnail, manage playlists and captions,
read and moderate comments, and read analytics — views, watch time, audience retention and
traffic sources, per video and per channel.

## Limits

- **Quota:** per day, 100 uploads plus 10,000 units for everything else (a thumbnail or an
  edit costs 50, a caption 400). mixetape reports a used-up quota as a failed post with the
  reason; retry after it resets at midnight Pacific time.
- **Custom thumbnails** need a verified channel.
- The API cannot pin comments or set a Short's related video.
- Analytics lag two to three days.
